We Could Use a Few More People

I love my guild.  The people in it keep me going, even when I have nothing to do but sit in Dalaran and read guild chat.  We have a great group of personalities that get along and play the game to have fun.

Its easy to take them for granted – especially our phenomenal healers and tanks.  I can’t tell you how many times our members will run with PuGs and be reminded how much better it is to be with known, quality players.  It makes me want to brag about the performance of my guildmates, but this is not a good venue for that.

As a casual raiding guild we don’t dedicate vast amounts of time to raiding.  Its too bad, really, because I know we could shine if we had the time.  For example, last week we decided to push for progression in 10-man Ulduar.  We scheduled raids every night for just a couple of hours at a time.  During that week, we cleared all the way up through Mimiron and had some good attempts at General Vezax.  Unfortunately,  we can’t dedicate that amount of time to raiding every week.

The extendable raid lockouts announced for Patch 3.2 is a great benefit for our guild.  I have no doubt that, with a two week window to work with, we will be clearing 10-man Ulduar with little trouble.

In this great guild there is a problem, though.  As a result of a few people taking breaks or giving up the game, we are currently in the dreaded no-man’s-land of membership.  We have too many raiders to get them all into 10-man Ulduar, but not quite enough to be able to field a regular 25-man team.  Some of our good players are a little disgruntled that they haven’t been invited to the 10-man runs as much as they would like.  Others are disappointed that we can’t always field 25-man teams because they need gear upgrades from heroic Ulduar.

We could PuG to fill spots, but we try to avoid that because it messes up our loot system (EPGP). As a result, we need to recruit.  I won’t spam the Trade channel with recuiting messages, so I’m exploring other venues.  Realm forums, PuG heroic runs, and chatting to guildles folks are some of our techniques.

If anyone reads this who is looking for an Alliance guild on Sen’jin (US), we have a spot for you.  It would be inappropriate for me to ask for people who are already geared-up, because we’re not that kind of guild.  A player who enjoys the game and is willing to learn and who knows their class well is our type of person.  We are patient and will work with people to get them raid-ready.  We have some of the best tanks and healers I have ever run with, so there are plenty of people to act as teachers or guides.

Our guild forums are at http://thedragons.zapto.org .  If anyone is interested, you can post in the Recruitment thread there, or come find me in-game.

It’ll be funny if, as a result of recruiting via your blog, you end up with a hundred rogue applicants and no other classes :]

I’d welcome a few more rogues. I one of only two raiding rogues in my guild.

I would not have tried to recruit using my blog in the first place, except that I have already had a few people join the guild after reading the blog even though I wasn’t using it to recruit. So I figured, what the heck?
