Guild Alliances: do they work?

My guild’s difficulties have been documented on this site.  I haven’t done any serious 10-man raiding in a couple of months.

I was approached by an officer of another guild about doing some joint runs and seeing if together we could put together a Gruul’s run.

I really appreciate their generous offer, since they are the larger guild here and we are the guild in need of help.  Still, I don’t want to put my guild in a subservient position where we are “second class citizens” in this arrangement.  So I’m treading lightly.

They want to run a joint Kara run tonight to feel us out.  Their officer asked if could bring a healer and 3 dps.
So – first stumbling block… on short notice we can’t get enough players to log on at their guild’s raid time.  They start earlier than we usually do.  So I had to ask if they could hold up their raid until we had 4 players online.  They seem amenable, but we’ll see what happens when raid time comes.

New raid leader, different loot system, coordination… and Omen that doesn’t work consistently.  Let’s see how this goes.

I think it sounds like a deal for your guild, but only time will tell. Do they they have a DKP system? Ideally Karazhan should be freeroll without DKP. Most 25man are DKP.
