I haven’t had much time to post lately. My free time has been spent in the game, not writing about it. As the post-patch excitement dies down now, I’ll return to a more regular posting schedule.

As much as I love Fan of Knives, when we used it I couldn’t help but think we looked like rotary lawn sprinklers, only tossing around tiny daggers instead of water. Now that has changed to something more dagger-ish.
What does anyone else think of the Fan of Knives animation? The daggers are more clearly drawn, but they move too slowly. It looks cartoony, even for WoW. I’m not sure which one I liked better. Ah well. As long as its doing lots of damage on trash packs, I’m happy.
Not that I’ve had the opportunity to do trash damage lately. In Ulduar, all of the damage up to and including the first boss is done in the vehicles. No need for our abilities there. Then there is no trash to clear before the next bosses. Is this good? Raiders have always wanted less trash. Does that make them happy? No trash at all?

Huh, maybe it looks better with the graphic details pumped up… On the lowest setting I’m never able to tell for sure where my AoE ends, and it does throw like 3 measly daggers total. So I wish it could be left as it was
As for the trash, I thought there are? Ignis has his 10 or so mobs before him, and they’re quite fun. XT and Razorscale did not (XT should have his back now), but there are some further inside. There’s not that many of them, but I think it’s enough.
I like the idea of trash. Although I know allot of people would rather just skip it. I doubt that they would do this but, I believe it would be more intresting if the trash mobs were ranked. Perfect example would be in the military quarter of Naxx. Maybe if they made it where you started with some peons and worked your way up the chain of command as you went through it. I dunno. I think that anything would be better than just some scattered NPC here and there. And add more dialoge for the minions. I think it would be funny if we walked up to them and they were BS’ing about what happened yesterday at work or whatever. Or maybe have them say something like “OH CRAP! Look at all those people where did they come from!?!” when a 25 man raid walks through their area.
Food for thought- Wouldn’t it be great if they got scared and ran when they saw you?
There is trash before Ignis. But that’s three bosses (Flame Leviathan, Razorscale, and XT-002 that can be reached with no trash pulls. So while “no trash” is an overstatement, its still a drastic reduction in trash compared to pre-WotLK raiding and even Naxx.
@Warstory – that would be awesome! If you walked into the raid with a title like Immortal, or something to show that you had already finished the raid on hard mode, then the trash simply surrenders or flees. lol
Hate the new animation
it moves too slowly and it’s really hard to determine the range visually.
Plus it’s kind of weird to be throwing all these knives around when you’re dual-wielding fists, but oh well.
There’s more trash once you get inside the instance, but it’s much more old-school miniboss type trash than the rampant AOE packs in Naxx. Some of it is really pretty tough, with boss like mechanics that have to be watched out for. Even the grouped trash is often taken in a specific order much it used to be. I like it, it seems more interesting than run in, spam FoK, loot.
For some reason this post reminds me of Milhouse and his sprinkler imitation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3cxUBxDIXE).
That aside, I kinda like the new FoK animation.
I don’t like the idea of having no trash at all. A bit of hard trash to wake people up and get them focused is always nice IMO.
Not a fan of the new animation. Not at all.
